  1. Does anyone have any info on the heritage of the ZD Cobra. I have a mate with one running a 351 and Berkely Jet. Are they a copy of an American hull?

    1. ZD operated in Keilor, Vic. back in the mid 80's until early 90's and was ran by a fella named Zelko. Models included Cobra, Spectra, Basset, and Shockwave, all of which I'm pretty sure were derived from American hull's. I havn't been able to pick or find out which model/make the actual Cobra came from though. I've always loved the Cobra's due to so many being parked outside the local workshops in our area whilst growing up (would ride my bmx from Cobra to Cobra ;) . Word was that they did have inherent Mph limitations and big HP race engines in them were a no no (not sure how true this was) ...Amongst the coolest looking boats around I reckon. Wouldn't mind seeing your mates one.

    2. That Cobra is a virtual copy of a SleekCraft Rebel jetboat (1973 - 1974 vintage).

  2. Zelko told me the Cobra was a copy of a Sleekcraft Rebel from the states. He made 2 versions, the poor mans and the rich mans. The poor mans had a slight hook in the bottom which stopped the need for cav plates. The other had the bottom blueprinted and had cav plates fitted.
