received word today that 'CAROLINE' is a very unique timber hull made by aussie 'ski king' Fred Williams and is a copy of an American Steven's hull ...big cheers to Keith for the info who also had some hilarious stories to tell in regards to 'CAROLINE' :-)
Uncle Ray was certainly a character. He sped around in Fury which was powered by a blown hemi chrysler V8 via a v-drive to the prop and ran on Nitro-Methyl. He came to grief once in the late 70's when a cam lobe came off and jammed the crankshaft when hurtling along at about 120 knots and the boat spun around the stopped prop. What was interesting was that he couldn't swim...
